Yuneec adds impressive “unlisted” camera capabilities in latest Typhoon H firmware update
Yuneec recently released a firmware update for their Typhoon H 4K hexacopter that touted only some improvements for connectivity. But what was discovered by our colleague Kerry Garrison with Multicopter Warehouse was some REALLY IMPRESSIVE advancements in the camera technology that will raise some eyebrows!
While Yuneec has been chipping away at the prosumer drone market currently dominated by DJI, it’s technological advancements like these that make the industry stand up and take notice that they really mean business as a serious competitor.
In their latest firmware release for the Typhoon H and ST16 remote on 7/13/16 for the Typhoon H hexacopter, they’ve noted that this release addresses “improved wifi connection”.
But what they failed to mention is probably the most valuable additions for photographers, such as EXIF camera data in still image files so that Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop users can merge multiple files for HDR images – like the 5-image HDR shot that Kerry Garrison created this weekend that we included at the top of this article.
I hope to have a production review unit to test by the end of the month so I can put all these features into use and report how they stack up against the DJI Phantom 4 head-to-head. Stay tuned…
